James to return to Porsche Racing

James has been announced as the Porsche GB Junior Motorsport Driver! Here is what he has to say:

I'm lost for words.

It's hard to believe what's just happened is real. I worked so hard for this scholarship, I did so much preparation whether that was in the gym or practice interviews with my headmaster at school.

I can't thank Porsche GB enough for the opportunity they have placed in front of me. I will certainly work my hardest to prove my worth and I can't wait to get these two special years underway.

If I was to thank everyone it would be a long read, but the people who deserve thanking will know who they are. But there are some special people who deserve special praise. Firstly, my mum and my dad for being incredibly supportive through all my years of racing. The Porsche GB Motorsport team for providing this opportunity. Previous teams and mechanics for making me become the person I am, which enabled me to be in the position I currently am.

Thankyou everyone again,

James

James is now in a priviledged position to be representing Porsche GB Motorsport as a Junior Driver and ambassador for the next two years, in which he hopes to develop and impress.

Are we to see James back in a Porsche??

Here’s what James had to say “I had recently entered the Porsche GB Junior Scholarship where many talented young drivers entered, when I first entered I felt confident I could progress, far however I knew I would have to be in top form to compete with the other drivers in the scholarship after seeing some of the names on the list. When I heard I made it to the top 12 I understood this was a huge achievement however, my mindset was only half the job is done”.

Today (Thursday 5th October 2023) was a special day with James now being narrowed down to the final 4 where he will compete in a shootout which will consist of a variety of activities such as driving, fitness and much more… here’s what James had to say about the announcement “Words don’t describe how I felt when I heard I made it to the final 4, I was over the moon! I am now super focused on the task ahead of me and everything I do is now towards this scholarship. I really want to emulate my on track abilities to my off track abilities and demonstrate all my skills at the scholarship. Thankyou to everyone who has supported me over the years as I wouldn’t be in the position I am currently without you that’s goes from my parents, my teachers, previous mechanics, engineers and all my friends!”

“Full focus on the scholarship now, thanks for reading, James.”

Back on the top step

Brands Hatch was one of the most interesting weekends of my career! From being out the car for a month and a half I struggled to find pace during the limited test sessions we had, and we were thrown in the deep end in qualifying where I still didn’t feel comfortable. We posted a good lap on the board, but a track limit deleted the lap which pushed us further down the order. This meant we started the race further back then we would’ve expected, although starting towards the back meant we avoided turn 1 chaos and found our selves up to second in class by turn 3, now we knew the fight was on! Unfortunately, my teammate picked up two drive-through penalties but due to him creating a big enough gap to fourth meant we remained in third. After a bit of fortune with safety cars and incidents we got up to second before I jumped into the car for my one-hour stint, where I had to be consistent but luckily the first place Silver-Am car picked up a puncture meaning we moved up to first place and won the Silver-Am race and ended up sixth overall.

Thanks to the team for their hard work now let’s push at Donington!

ONE BEFORE THE FINALE!

We are heading to Brands Hatch for the penultimate round of the British GT championship where we hope to bring home some silverware. At the last couple of British GT rounds, luck hasn’t fallen our way but this round we are looking to change that, we have had a long summer break where I haven’t driven a car, but with lots of sim preparation and video analysis I am personally feeling confident going into this round. Brands GP is one of my personal favourites with it being fast and undulating. Its also a track where I have had previous success so hope for that to continue onward to this weekend.

We felt confident going into the Algarve race weekend with super strong pace in testing. Qualifying was competitive with myself being the fastest silver driver on track. Then heading into the race we managed to climb up to P4 overall but unfortunatly with my team mate having some great battles lead to us receiving a puncture and a drive through penalty, this unfortunately meant we were out of the race. Lots of improvements shown all round now onto Brands Hatch after the summer break!

British GT - Round 2

It was our debut weekend in British GT GT3 and it was definitely a weekend to remember! After missing some of the Friday test due to some required parts arriving late, it put us on the back foot for the weekend and after both drivers found their pace in the DRIVETAC AMG. Qualifying was cancelled due to heavy rain which lead to lot of standing water. This set us P20 on the grid, not where we wanted to be. However this didn’t hinder our race performance with James and Chris moving up 11 positions to finish P9 overall and P2 in Silver/Am, the team DRIVETAC powered by Track Focused did an amazing job prepping the car and gave us a faultless car all weekend and performed faultless pitstops to.

Cheers for the hardwork guys!

GT CUP - Round 2

Brands Hatch brought a roller coaster of a weekend with James winning the Saturday sprint race by 3 seconds, but that seemed to be where the luck ended with the endurance race on Saturday coming to an early end due to a mechanical failure causing Sam to spin into the gravel. The mechanics did an amazing job to get the car back out for Sunday’s sprint race with Sam taking home a comfortable P2. Then our luck stopped again wth Sam picking up a puncture 30 seconds before the pit-window for new tyres and a driver change to James. Overall the weekend consisted of mixed emotions, but lots learnt now onto Snetterton.

James to race GT3 in British GT

I am absolutely buzzing to announce I am graduating into British GT - GT3. I think it will be a challenging year, but that is what we are in it for - the challenge. I am partnering up with Chris Hart, who has shown amazing pace on the test day we have completed. Now let’s see what Silverstone 500 will bring.

British GT Round 1

British GT begun its season at Oulton Park over Easter weekend. Round 1 is said to be a hectic race and the weekend definitely lived up to that statement. The weather was dry and warm during qualifying and then took a massive turn on race day and was fully wet. I had never driven Oulton Park in the wet, so to come away with P4 is a great achievement for myself and the team. Now all focus swings onto Brands Hatch for GT Cup in a couple of weeks.

GT Cup Round 1

The 1st of April, marked the beginning of the 2023 GT Cup at Donington Park. It was a rollercoaster of a weekend with a DNF in the endurance race on Saturday, but after the hard work from the mechanics at DriveTac powered by Track Focused, we were back out on the Sunday ready to go. After some hard fights in the sprint and endurance races, we came away on a high with 2/2 wins on Sunday. Now all eyes are on this weekend at Oulton Park for round 1 of British GT.

GT Cup Media Day

On the 16th March, James and the team attended the GT Cup Media Day, to stretch the GT3 Mercedes legs around Donington Park National and make even more progress ahead of the first round next month. Whilst the day started off wet, it soon dried off to give both drivers an opportunity to find the potential of the GT3. It was a successful day and the whole team came away even more excited for the first round on the 1st April back at Donington.
